Rhemila Smith, SPHR
President

Mila has over 10 years of progressive Human Resources Management experience in nonprofit and corporate, for-profit organizations.  Mila currently serves as Human Resources Manager for Balfour Beatty Construction and is a member of the HR Florida State Council. She has a Masters degree in Human Resource Management from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelors degree in English from the University of Florida.  Her areas of expertise include employment management, performance management, training & development, compliance and employee relations. Mila was nominated by peers and awarded one of South Florida's 2010 Top 40 Under 40 Leaders of Today and Tomorrow by Success South Florida Magazine.
 


Tasos Paindiris, Esq, SPHR
President-Elect

Tasos C. Paindiris is an attorney and the Managing Partner of the Miami, Florida, office of Jackson Lewis LLP.  His practice concentrates on representing employers and advising clients in many different areas of workplace law.  Mr. Paindiris is also a frequent speaker and trainer on a variety of workplace law topics and a past Legislative Chair of HRABC. He received a B.A. in Economics from Wesleyan University in 1992 and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1995, where he graduated with honors.


Ryan Shea, GPHR
Secretary

Ryan Shea is responsible for strategic development throughout Florida for Right Management, the world’s largest talent and career management consulting firm. Ryan works with clients by designing and executing workforce solutions that align talent strategy with business strategy. Prior to joining Right, Ryan worked with Regions Bank where he was a Corporate Credit Analyst and analyzed public and private middle market companies to determine loan amount and structure for working capital, acquisitions, recapitalization and real estate financing purposes.  Ryan received a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Real Estate with a minor in Economics from Florida State University and received his Master degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.

 


Tequesta Allen, PHR
Treasurer

Tequesta is a HR Generalist at ChildNet, Inc.  Tequesta has over 4 years of human resources experience in the non-profit arena.  She has a Masters degree in Human Resourcese Management from Nova Southeastern University and Bachelor of Social Work from Florida Atlantic University.  Tequesta's areas of expertise are employee relations, recruiting and HRIS.


Kia-lee Bussey, SPHR, GPHR
Past President

Kia-lee is the Human Resources Director for CHAUVET® Lighting.  Kia-lee has over 14 years of progressive management, operations and human resource experience. Kia-lee is both SPHR and GPHR certified.  She earned her AA Degree in business from American Intercontinental University, and a BBA with a concentration in Management, International Business, and Human Resource at Florida International University.  Kia-lee served as the HRABC conference chair since its inception in 2008 through 2010.  In addition to her work on behalf of HRABC, Kia-lee serves on several boards, and led the charge to establish the South Florida Chapter of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources where she served as the inaugural President in 2008 and 2009.  Kia-lee, a Brooklyn native lives locally with her husband and three children.


Adrienne Bennett, FPC, PHR
Communications Director

Adrienne Bennett, MBA, FPC, PHR is currently a Human Resources Specialist at Virtual Imaging, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A, Inc.  Adrienne has over twelve years of experience in the professional realms of business operations, education, promotions and marketing and human resources. She holds a Masters of Business Administration with a Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Spanish from Florida Atlantic University. Adrienne is actively involved in the community through various professional affiliations and alumni memberships including High School in Israel and Heir-O-link in the North Broward County Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, among others. A native New Yorker, Adrienne now resides in Broward County with her husband and four sons.


Beatriz Hartman
Community Relations Director

Beatriz is a Community Outreach Manager and Certified Credit Counselor for Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc. Beatriz belongs to the Broward Wealth Building Coalition, the Task Force for Broward and Miami-Dade Prosperity Partnerships, the Florida Prosperity Partnership; she volunteers with REACT teams for Workforce One (Broward) and South Florida Workforce (Miami).  Beatriz is a Trustee Member of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Hispanic Coral Gables Chambers of Commerce.
 


Shirley Toliver, PHR
Diversity Director

Shirley is an Area Human Resources Representative for UPS. Shirley has over 10 years experience in progressive Human Resource Management. She is responsible for Workforce Planning, Employee Relations, Learning, Development and Community Relations in her current position. Shirley earned a Master of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from Nova Southeastern University in 2009, a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2007 and earned her PHR certification in 2004. Shirley is active in her community in several ways; including board member for the Florida High School for College and Career Success Broward County Campus, James Jones Legacy Foundation, Human Resources of Broward County, National Association of African Americans in Human Resources South Florida Chapter and Shirley is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management Association (SHRM). Shirley is a native Floridian and resides in South Florida with her husband and two children.


Liza Sumulong
Hospitality Director

Liza Sumulong has worked for the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business & Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University for 15 years, the last 2 years as Associate Director of Corporate Development & Recruiter. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Marketing from the University of Tampa in 1995 while working for Verizon Telecommunication, formerly GTE. After 6 months at Verizon Telecommunications, she decided to pursue her Master of Business Administration at the Huizenga Business School at NSU, which then required her to move to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. While in the MBA program, she started working for the Huizenga Business School in many different areas, such as Marketing, Admissions, Advising, Recruitment and now Corporate Development. She completed her MBA in 1997 and continued on in her love of education to pursue a number of graduate certificates in Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development, Leadership and Marketing from Nova Southeastern University.


Brett Schneider, Esq.
Legislative Affairs Director

Brett J. Schneider is an attorney with the Fort Lauderdale, Florida office of Weiss Serota Helfman Pastoriza Cole & Boniske, P.L.  Brett is a partner with the firm and chairs the firm’s labor and employment practice group.  His practice primarily consists of representing employers in employment litigation, administrative proceedings and labor negotiations and he regularly consults with and advises employers on a wide array of human resources issues.  Brett received his B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland and a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.


Janelle Blake, PHR
Membership Director

Janelle has over 10 years of management experience and 5 years of progressive Human Resources Managment experience in nonprofit and corporate, for-profit organizations.  Janelle is the Director of Human Resources for United Way of Broward County.  She has a Masters degree in Human Resource Management from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelors degree from Florida International University.  Janelle's areas of expertise include employment management, performance management, training & development and employee relations.  Janelle also serves on the board of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources (NAAAHR) South Florida Chapter.


Sandy Edelson, SPHR
Professional Development Director

Sandy has held executive HR positions in healthcare and educational organizations for over 15 years.  She served as Chair of the Leadership Development Task Force with Palm Beach County's Children's Services Council and is Co-President on the Board of the Drucker Society Global Network’s South Florida Chapter.  Sandy has a Masters degree in Human Resource Development from Palm Beach Atlantic University, a Bachelors degree in Organizational Management (summa cum laude) and is a certified Praendex Predictive Index analyst.  She serves her alma mater as adjunct Professor in Human Resource Management, Leadership, Organizational Management and Communication. 
 


Maria Ferrante Wilson, SPHR
Programs Director

Maria is a Human Resource Professional with progressive generalist experience spanning global public corporations to regional not for profit organizations within the healthcare and biotechnology industries. Her areas of expertise include: acquiring and retaining top talent, performance management, employee/leadership development, change management, employee relations and compliance. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Ohio State University and is recently certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Broward County Mediator. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the South Florida Girl Scouts.

John Justice, SPHR, GPHR
Student Chapters Director

John is a global, multilingual, Human Resources professional with Chevron's Latin America regional office in Coral Gables, Florida.  He has over 15 years of HR experience working with global Fortune 500 and mid-sized companies in the Latin America and North America regions.  His professional experience includes the aviation, air cargo, banking, banking technology, and oil & gas industries.  He has experience in all HR disciplines with a focus in talent management, strategic business alignment of the HR function, and organizational development.  John earned his Masters Degree with a focus in Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, in Miami, Florida.  He earned his Bachelors Degree in Spanish with a minor in French, from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia.  He is on the SHRM Organizational Development Special Expertise Panel.  For the past four years he served on the GPHR Item Development Panel, writing questions for the GPHR exam.


Michelle Eisner, GPHR, CCP
Workforce Development Director

Michelle is the Chief Human Resources & Talent Officer at Hollander Home Fashions.  She is a key advisor and coach to the CEO and senior management team, in formulating the organization’s vision and facilitating strategic planning to ensure corporate growth and profitability. Michelle has a Masters degree in Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University/Baruch College and a Bachelors degree from City College of New York.  She is recognized as an Organizational Development Professional by University Associates.
 


Mike Gelin, CEBS
HR Florida Ambassador

Mike has 7+ years of experience in the insurance and benefits industry with additional expertise in aspects of underwriting, strategic planning, mergers/acquisitions and compliance.  As a Benefits Consultant for Seitlin Benefits, he is responsible for business development and client management.  Mike has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Morris Brown College.  He is also the VP of International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (South FL Chapter) and is a member of both South Florida Compensation & Benefits Association and National Association of African Americans in Human Resources.
