Group Health Insurance, Negotiate your Best Possible Price - Connie Chiara

Since 1999, health insurance premiums have increased a whopping 213%. In 2016, the average premium for a group health insurance plan was $11,484. Each year employers face difficult decisions on balancing the cost of coverage with their desire to attract and retain quality employees. Taking advantage of our market driven system is one part of the solution.

On average, 49% of Americans receive their health insurance coverage from the workplace. In Florida, we provide coverage to only 39% of our population. Health insurance is costly and for many it is the single most expensive budget item next to employee wages. Over the past few years, we have significantly more involvement from CEO’s and CFO’s when it comes to health insurance negotiations and the contract of services. In this workshop, Connie will help the attendees to understand how the marketplace really works and give HR professionals the tools they need to communicate this information more effectively to the C-Suite.

In this workshop, attendees will learn:
 - What health insurance costs and how it compares with other financial metrics

 - Who the insurance industry players are and how they compete for your business

 - How an insurance carrier underwrites your business

 - How to leverage the insurance marketplace for the best possible price

 - Understanding the insurance brokerage system

Networking: 5pm-6pm

The Science of Emotional Intelligence”- Jackie Ramirez

“Companies can continue to give top priority to financial performance-but many now also realize that technical and intellectual skills are only part of the equation for success. A growing number of organizations are now convinced that people’s ability to understand and manage their emotions improves their performance, their collaboration with colleagues, and their interactions with customers. After decades of businesses seeing “hard stuff” and “soft stuff” as separate domains, emotional competence may now be a way to close that breach and create a unified view of workplace performance” Fast Company.

For HR Professionals this session will explore those skills that have been increasingly emphasized as success criteria in the corporate environment and, in reality, in life.

Participants will:
 - Learn about the neuroscience behind how emotions drive strategy, decision making, and relationship building
 - Expand one’s own self-awareness
 - Prioritize EI skills that support your role as an HR professional
 - Understand how changing habits can change our influence
