2017 Officers and Board of Directors

Janelle Doharty, PHR, SHRM-CP


Janelle Doharty is the Director of Human Resources for Interim HealthCare the nation's oldest health care franchise company. Prior to her tenure with the Interim HealthCare, Janelle was the Director of Human Resources for United Way of Broward County, and has also held various positions in HR & Recruiting for a number of firms in both healthcare and retail.

Janelle is both PHR and SHRM-CP certified and holds a Master’s of Science in Human Resources Management from Nova South Eastern University. Prior to being President, Janelle has also held the role of Membership Chair in 2011 and 2012 and Programs chair 2016.




Tequesta DeSouza, SPHR, SHRM-CP
Past President

Tequesta is currently Senior Human Resources Generalist for Balfour Beatty Construction and provides a wide range of HR process support to the Florida Division. She has over 9 years experience in the Human Resources profession with experience in Recruiting, Talent Management, Employee Relations and Compensation and Benefits.  Tequesta holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University.

Tequesta has been an active HRABC Board member serving in positions such as Treasurer, Programs Director and Conference Chair.  Tequesta is excited and looking forward to working with 2016 HRABC Board to bring valuable programming, resources and networking opportunities to our members.


Mary Muniz-Pellicer, PHR, SHRM-CP
President Elect

Mary Muniz-Pellicer is the Director of Human Resources at the YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade, Inc. Mary is a multi-lingual professional with 20+ yrs. of experience in Human Resources, Finance, and Administration. Mary has been very active & involved for many years in community and professional organizations. Prior to being President Elect for HRABC, Mary served as Diversity Chair/Director, Community Relations Director, and College Relations for HRABC. Prior to that Mary served as the 2013 VP Professional Development, overseeing Programs, Global Forum, Executive Summit, and Certification for GMSHRM. She was also the 2012 President for SMA South Florida chapter, 2015/2016 VP Marketing & Communications, and Sponsorship Chair for SMA.  Aside from the HR arena, Mary is active in several other volunteer organizations in South Florida.

Mary serves on the Dade Coalition for Education and Economic Justice; served as the VP of Legislation & Advocacy, Resource Development Chair, and Social Media Chair for the Miami-Dade County Council of PTAs since 2011/12. Mary was also appointed in 2008 to the NMB Commission on the Status of Women, where she served on the Board for many years. In addition, Mary has done many speaking engagements and presentations covering topics such as job-hunting techniques, interviewing skills, re-vamping resumes, strategic networking, and social media skills for job hunters. In recent years, Mary has presented at the 1st Florida Women’s Conference in Orlando; the Broward County Women’s Empowerment Expo; the City of Miami Gardens Business Expo, the Miami Beach Women’s Conference and Expo, the Regional National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) annual event, the American Society for Public Administration South Florida Chapter, and the YWCA Regional Southeast Conferences to name a few.



Sven Gade
Programs Director

Sven is a Certified Leadership Coach and Founder of LeaderTrip Coaching®, LLC. He brings 25+ years’ experience in senior management roles, mainly at DHL, a world leading provider of logistic services. Sven has held positions in operations, process improvement and account management, and has worked in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark and the US, evolving from country and regional roles into global leadership positions.

With his key focus on talent development, team building and change management he inspires individuals and teams. His LeaderTrip Coaching® clients want to implement new strategies, build high performing teams, they want to improve their self-management, relieve stress or enhance inter-personal communication, and they want to grow in their professional development or shorten their learning curve in a changing environment.

Angela Miller, PHR, SHRM-CP
Professional Development Director

Angela Miller is a Senior Manager, Human Resources & Talent for Arise Virtual Solutions Inc., a pioneer of on-demand customer management technology and business process outsourcing. Arise’s powerful cloud-based platform provides a virtual nationwide network to connect primarily work-at-home service professionals running small call center businesses to companies needing contact center and other business services.

Outside of her HR Business Partner role and managing the recruitment function for the organization, she also owns Learning & Development, the Emerging Leaders Development Program, and runs the Community Action Team for Arise. Angela holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Missouri-Columbia and volunteers as a Wish Maker for Make-A-Wish of Southern Florida.


Danielle Corradino, JD
Communications Director

Danielle Corradino is the Director of Human Resources at The Corradino Group, Inc., is a multimillion dollar national mid-sized engineering and planning firm. Danielle is an accomplished diverse Human Resource professional with over 13 years of human resources experience in the private sector. Danielle is responsible for implementing human resource management strategies, organizational development, attracting and developing talent and building a culture of engagement.  Danielle is highly skilled in compliance, leadership and management coaching.

Danielle holds a JD from Widener University and a BA from Villanova University. 


Tessa A. Lovell-Warner, MBA
Membership Director

Tessa is currently the Senior Employee Relations Analyst at Broward College providing Human resources support in Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Performance management, talent management and Succession planning. Tessa has fifteen (15) years in the Human Resources, with seven (7) years of progressive Human Resource Management and three (3) years employee & labor relations experience.

Tessa is a certified Title IX Investigator and a Florida Public Employee Labor Relations Investigator.Before joining Broward College in May, 2013, Tessa worked as a Human Resources Manager in non-profit. Tessa holds an MBA degree as well as a post graduate certificate in Human Resource Management from Nova Southeastern University. 



Bennett Mazor
Community Affairs Director

Bennett Mazor is the Permanent Placement Recruiter for TransHire. He specializes in the recruitment and placement of professional associates. He works with South Florida's employers to bring them the talent needed for their organization. Bennett is a believer in connecting great people with the right opportunities. With over 6300 LinkedIn connections, and a keen sense of recruiting, he has mastered the art of the perfect match.

Bennett came to TransHire after a successful 16-year corporate career at Office Depot. Prior to Office Depot, Bennett had a career in restaurant management. He was a manager for Cityscape, Harry's Cafe and the Walnut Room restaurants in Chicago.

Bennett is also very involved in the South Florida HR community. In addition to being the current Director of Hospitality for HRABC and former Director of Hospitality for the SMA, he attends SMA, GMSHRM, NAAAHR, and HRABC events. He is also a very active networker and organizes and hosts the Miami Networked Recruiter event. Bennett has also been honored by being asked to be a speaker at Career Source Broward, NAAAHR, Lee Hecht Harrison, Back on Track, NSU SHRM and Right Management.


Catalina Franco-Cicero, MS, CFP


Catalina Franco-Cicero, MS, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (TM) serves as a Financial Advisor at Tobias Financial Advisors in Fort Lauderdale. Her day-to-day responsibilities include client relationship management, financial plan development, consultation on retirement plan services, and leading financial wellness educational programming. She collaborates with clients and their professional advisors to ensure their overall financial objectives are accomplished.

Catalina is fluent in Spanish and have been quoted in and written about in InvestmentNews, Money Magazine and Time Magazine, FA Magazine, Benefits Pro, and other media outlets. She has presented at several conferences to HR professionals and other professional associations on various financial planning topics. I’m also a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor.

Catalina was recently recognized as a 2016 Financial Planning Association’s Diversity Scholarship Winner for bringing financial planning to underserved populations. She is excited to serve a second term as Treasurer for HRABC and looks forward to helping the organization continue to serve HR professionals in Broward County, FL.


Brain L. Lerner, Esq.
Legislative Affairs

Brian Lerner is a Board Certified Specialist in Labor and Employment Law, one of only approximately 200 certified by The Florida Bar.  He is the Chair of the Labor & Employment Group of the law firm Kim Vaughan Lerner, a certified minority business enterprise, where he concentrates his practice on representing individuals and businesses in lawsuits alleging discrimination, harassment, retaliation, unpaid wages, and leave issues.  Additionally, Mr. Lerner handles lawsuits relating to theft of trade secrets and breaches of non-compete, confidentiality, non-solicitation, and employment agreements. 

Mr. Lerner also assists businesses with conducting internal investigations, auditing employment practices, counseling and training on workplace issues, and drafting employee handbooks, policies, and agreements.  Mr. Lerner’s employment work has been recognized by peers and industry observers, having been recognized by organizations such as Chambers USA, Florida Super Lawyers, Florida Trend, and South Florida Legal Guide.  Mr. Lerner serves on various voluntary bar and community organizations, including being on the Executive Council of the Florida Bar’s Labor & Employment Section, being the President-Elect of the Federal Bar Association Broward County Chapter, and being the Secretary of two legal aid organizations.


Dean Altman, MBA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP 
Workforce Readiness Director

Dean is an HR consultant who provides a wide range of services and support to clients.  He started his consulting practice in 2015 after working more than 20 years for mid-sized and large organizations in various HR management roles.  He has worked with best practice organizations in the technical services, hospitality, engineering and not-for-profit sectors.  Dean also teaches the SHRM certification course for Broward College.  He holds an MBA degree from The University of Texas with a concentration in Human Resources and a BS degree in Engineering from Rice University.  He is both SHRM-SCP and SPHR certified.



Nicole Penny
Hospitality Director

Nicole is a legal administrator with wide-ranging experience in finance,HR, operation, budgeting, legal accounting and leadership. Management experience handling difficult and confidential HR issues with positive results. Also skilled in hiring, terminations, reviews, and salary negotiation, employee engagement, morale, process improvement, streamlining and staffing.


Claudette Burke, PHR, SHRM-CP
Student Chapter Director

Claudette has over 16 years of progressive Human Resources Management experience in the private sector and public educational organizations. Claudette holds a Master's degree in Human Resource Management from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelors degree in Business Management from Florida Atlantic University, and is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified. She served previously as HRABC's Treasurer. Her areas of expertise include employee benefits and wellness management, employment management, professional training and development, performance management, compliance and employee relations.


Vivian Herrera


Vivian Herrera has over 18 years of diverse international human resources and management experience that ranged from entrepreneurial, mid-sized, and Fortune 500 firms in finance, insurance, manufacturing, professional services, e-commerce and consumer products. She has extensive hands-on experience leading HR initiatives including policy design, compensation, performance management, recruiting, compliance reporting, HRIS implementations, HR workflow development, training and development, and benefits administration
